I have a ton of drafts of posts, but will once again fall back to yon bullet points for your all-important Dave news.
- Roll35 rolls along. In retrospect, I think we have a few too many bells and whistles that need to be pared down, and we launched about two weeks before we were completely ready, but the feedback has been pretty good as we prepare to make our move to new markets, where the real money is. That would be good, since, after all, landlords like money.
- Speaking of which, apparently we were told wrong, our condo unit is still for sale, lack of sign out front notwithstanding. Out of curiosity, I looked it up on Zillow.com. Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s an awesome place; about 1500 sq. ft., big deck, river view, within walking distance of most anything on the west side. It’s also about 30 years old, definitely needs some cosmetic work, the kitchen desperately needs updating and the wiring is screwy. How much would you pay for this place? I thought $300K, tops, Paul went with $250K. No, the current asking price is $475,000 *cough*. Maybe, just maybe, you could have gotten that five years ago, but the owner of the unit seems to be under the impression that real estate prices in Bend haven’t just fallen, they’ve cratered.
I suspect this means we won’t be going anywhere anytime soon
- It is my firm belief that someday in the future – it could be ten years, it could be fifty – people will look at the legacy of Dick Cheney and realize what a small, mendacious, awful human being he is/was. I don’t think I need to elaborate on that much further.
- Not sure when/if I’m going skiing this year. In the past, I’ve been able to, ahem, “borrow” a pass Paul gets through Northwest Theatrical. This, Bachelor bumped up the prices on passes (again), so no passes at NWT this year, unless they get them through another source. It’s been almost three years since I’ve been skiing – which was also the last decent weekend Cheryl and I had together. Haven’t been golfing in nearly three years, either. Perhaps this spring I’ll do something about that. Perhaps.
- Caught the ending of the David Tennant era on Doctor Who and was tremendously underwhelmed. Nothing like trying to cram a weak one-hour story into a two-plus hour spectacular. Between this and Battlestar Galactica, it has not been a good year for sci-fi sendoffs. So Matt Smith is your 11th Doctor. Looks a bit too Crispin Glover-y, but I shall reserve judgment until new shows air this spring.
I think I need to get back to some actual editing. And writing. I should be writing more for the website, but editing and site maintenance seems to take up all my time. Funny, I seem to have heard this from other editors before…
