Being as Futurama‘s back on the air (still finding it’s groove but funny), it felt like a good time to, sorta, bust out the Hubert Farnsworth there.
So, there’s news – kinda – on the financial/job front.
Firstly, old buddy and mentor Scot has been in town for a few days, ostensibly on vacation but also checking out possible new domiciles for the brood should he follow through with his master plan: move to Bend and start his own little game studio. Should he do so, that would most likely mean a job for yours truly. He did ask me, “would you be interested?” and I answered “Is the space pope reptillian? Of course I’d be interested!”
So I’ve been doing everything I can do to facilitate them getting up here; scouting potential new homes (as previously mentioned, if you want to buy a house here, now is the best time in…ever) and answering questions about local schooling. The only drawback is that in order for them to come up here, they need to be able to sell their place in the Bay Area, and I don’t think you need three guesses to know how that’s going.
It’s going to come down to “how big of a bath are we willing to take on the old house?” It’s going to be a big bath, just a matter of if it’s jacuzzi sized or Olympic-sized swimming pool sized.
But wait, I have other news as well.
Having completed a few more projects for the DRC, I’m now – I think – re-eligible for unemployment bennies. Gonna have to re-check with the Washington State Employment Division which, sadly, is much more stringent than the Oregon version, which would pretty much just give you cash, no muss, no fuss.
Also: COCC is re-advertising a position in their Disability Services department – the one I had previously applied for about a year and a half ago, and missed out on despite my incredible qualifications for the job – so I’m going to see if I can get that job now, as I can pretty much guarantee that there’s no one in this area who has anything even close to my knowledge base re: operating a college-level disabilities department.
Of course, I said that last time, didn’t I?
And, to conluce, apropos of nothing, I give you: a monkey washing a cat.
